Recommendation: A Biblical Reason NOT to Gamble

Gambling, particularly sports gambling, is all over media these days. But should Christians gamble? Is there a biblical argument against it? Andy Farmer answers these questions in “Where Can I Find a Biblical Reason NOT to Gamble?” His answer is based on the principle of equity, combining the ideas underlying the eighth and tenth commandments.

For the Christian, we can’t simply treat gambling like it’s a fun diversion or a kind of investment. Most gambling requires inequity. It requires people to lose what God has provided so that others get what God has not provided. If you lose at gambling, you suffer. If you win, your neighbor suffers. That’s an eighth commandment problem.
